DETECTIVES investigating a violent carjacking on a defenceless woman have released a 17-year-old youth on bail pending further inquiries.

An 18-year-old teenager remains in police custody.

It happened at about 2 pm on Monday in Pretoria Street in the Stranmillis area of the city.

The pair were arrested after the vehicle was later discovered in Main Street in Crumlin.

It is believed the hijacked car had struck another car in the area, but no-one was injured.

They are assisting police with their enquiries.
