TEEN ARRESTED AFTER POLICEMAN STABBED WITH ‘STANLEY KNIFE’

PSNIDETECTIVES have arrested a teenager after a PSNI officer was stabbed in the faced in north Belfast.

According to the PSNI, officers were responding to a report of an assault on the Crumlin Road on New Year’s Day when the attack happened.

Police say one officer received facial injuries in the attack from what was believed to have been a “Stanley knife” type weapon.

The injured policeman was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A 16-year-old youth was arrested by detectives for wounding with intent and having an offensive weapon.

He is currently in Musgrave Street PSNI station being questioned over the attack.
