Police warn people in Carrickfergus to be vigilant over spate of burglaries

THE PSNI is warning the public to be on their guard following a recent spate of burglaries on the homes of elderly ladies.

The police say three burglaries in the Carrickfergus area were almost identical.

The burglars targeted the homes of elderly women living alone, the back window of the house was forced open to gain entry and any money found was stolen.

The age of the ladies involved ranged from 70 to 85.

Two of the burglaries happened in Carrickfergus town centre while the third took place in a rural area.

A Carrick PSNI spokesman said: “As a result of these incidents patrols have been increased.

“Crime scene investigators (CSI0 have examined the scenes.

“We would urge the public to report anyone you think is acting suspicious.

“Words fail us about the type of people who commit these crimes.”
