Joe Gormley couldn’t find the net for Cliftonville as Glenavon ran out 1-0 winners at Mourneview Park

‘CHEERIO, CHEERIO, CHEERIO!’

That was the chant from jubilant Glenavon supporters to Cliftonville fans who brooded out of Mournview Park ahead of the final whistle.

Andy McGrory put the ball in the back of the net after Reds keeper Conor Devlin spilled a shot gifting a two-yard tap in.

It is now Cliftonville’s third defeat of the season.

But the Reds had chances for stirkers Liam Boyce and Joe Gormley and couldn’t put them away.

And the Glenavon win leapfrogs the Lurgan bluemen to the top of the Danske Bank Irish Premier League.

It is a major boost to Glenavon manager Gary Hamilton who brought himselft on as a sub at half time.
