TWO men have been rescued after the boat they were on capsized on an estuary in Donegal on Wednesday afternoon.

Three men were aboard the 14ft vessel when it capsized, one of the men managed to swim ashore at Gweebara and was able to raise the alarm.

He had to run half a mile until he found someone who then made immediate contact with the Malin coastguard.

Malin coastguard then co-ordinated the rescue operation and deployed the rescue helicopter from Sligo.

The Arranmore lifeboat and Bunbeg coastguard boat were also dispatched to the scene.

The two men that were rescued have been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.

It is believed both men are suffering from hypothermia.
