Police appeal after man found critically injured in east Belfast

DETECTIVES have appealed for information after a man in his 20s was left in a critical condition in hospital after being found unconscious in east Belfast.

The victim was discovered with serious head injuries in the Upper Knockbreda Road area at around 1.30am on Saturday.

The NI Ambulance Service received a report of a man lying close to the road’s junction with Cregagh Road, said a police statement.

The PSNI are trying to establish how the man received his injuries.

“Police have a report that the man got out of a taxi close to the Braniel Estate and are keen to hear from anyone who saw him on foot between 12.30am and 1.30am,” a PSNI spokesman said.

Detectives want anyone with information about the assaualt to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
