Detectives appeal for information after armed men rob cash-in-transit van in Newtownabbey

DETECTIVES are investigating after a cash-in-transit van was robbed in Newtownabbey.

Two men, one said to be carrying a gun, approached the drivers outside a bank on Farmley Road in the centre of Glengormely at 6.45am on Thursday.

The robbers made off with a cash box in a silver Honda Civic car.

Police later recovered the box on Greenhill Road – but it had been emptied and a sum of cash had been taken.
