VICTIMS campaigner Willie Frazer has been arrested on suspicion of breaching his bail conditions.

Mr Frazer, who recently founded the Protestant Coalition, was arrested in the Portadown area of County Armagh, at around 7.35 pm on evening.

Police accused him of allegedly taking part in a protest at the Maze prison aimed stopping plans to build a peace centre on the site.

Mr Frazer is currently on bail after being charged with offences related to union flag protests.

A spokesman for victims’ group FAIR (Families Acting for Innocent Relatives) said the Maze protest was lawful and peaceful.

Mr Frazer, 53, from County Armagh, is one of the most high-profile figures to be charged in connection with ongoing demonstrations over the decision to limit flying of the union flag at Belfast City Hall.

He is charged with encouraging offences by an address to demonstrators in January.

He is also accused of taking part in an un-notified procession, obstructing traffic and possession of a Taser.

In March, he was granted bail on a series of conditions.

The conditions include that he live at his home in Markethill and make no public speeches or social media comment over the union flag dispute.

Mr Frazer must also stay at least two miles from any public protest or procession and must report to the police once a week.

If a court finds that he is in breach of his bail, he could be thrown back in prison until his trial starts.
