Police charge man with attempted murder over teen stabbing

DETECTIVES have charged a 22-year-old man with attempted murder.

He is further accused of two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

The man is due appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday, April 22.

The charges relate to the stabbing of a teenager in Magherafelt.

The 17-year-old was attacked in the Rainey Street area of the Co Londonderry town in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He is being treated in hospital for injuries which aren’t believed to be life threatening.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the stabbing.

Anyone with further information has been asked to come forward.
