Planned surgery operations on Monday cancelled at City Hospital

THE Belfast Trust has cancelled all planned operations on Monday due to the severe weather conditions.

However, cancer patients or those needing emergency surgery will not be not affected.

All other patients who had appointments for surgery at the Royal Victoria, the Mater and the City Hospitals will be contacted before Monday about the postponements.

The Belfast Trust said the reason for cancelling all scheduled operations was down to a “resources issue” and the problems of discharging patients during the severe weather.

It apologised for the inconvenience to patients adding: “The serious weather is placing extra pressures on our hospital resources and we do not want our patients to have to travel unnecessarily.

“These operation will be rebooked at the earlier opportunity.

“Some trust staff are finding it more difficult than usual bcause of the weather either to come into work or return home.”
