Police come under attack from loyalists in east Belfast

DETECTIVES from Operation Dulcet have charged a man in connection with public disorder in east Belfast.

The 26-year-0ld is accused of riotous assembly, obstructing traffic in a public place and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 April.

The charges relate to trouble that broke out in the east of the city in December 2012.

Approximately 220 people have now been arrested by Operation Dulcet, which is headed up by Det Supt Sean Wright.

It was set up to probe Union flag protestes and resulting violence across Northern Ireland.
