MONEY CRISIS AT GLENS AS PLAYERS WAIT ON JANUARY WAGES

Glentoran hit by fresh money flow problems

Glentoran hit by fresh money flow problems

PLAYERS at Glentoran FC are still waiting on their January wages as the club appears to have hit another cash flow problem.

Members of the squad members were expected to receive January wages on Thursday.

However, the team members were told days earlier that e their payments on Thursday but are believed to have been told days earlier that there was a problem over money.

Only recently Glens chairman Terence Brannigan had indicated that the club had sorted out the money issue.

The problem was staved off with a cash advance from the club’s main sponsors McLean’s Bookmakes.

There has been no comment from the club on this further period of financial uncertainty.

On the last occasion in which their wages were delayed, the players refused to train, but there is no indication that they intend to repeat that threat.

Part of the problem for the Glen’s board is that two its last home Danske Bank Irish Premier league matches were called off due to bad weather, meaning no money coming through the turnstiles.
