Police investigate theft of lead from two south Belfast churches

POLICE are investigating the theft of lead from two churches in south Belfast.

The PSNI said one church in the Stranmillis area and another one in the Donegall Pass area have become “multiple victims of lead theft”.

The police added: “With lead at £900 a ton this is a tempting market for thieves, sadly the value of the lead is usually small compared to the repair cost to the roof, especially if rain has got in.”
