ONE DAY LEFT TO VOTE NOW FOR NORTHERN IRELAND TELEVISION’S FUNNIEST MOMENTS

THERE IS only one day left to cast your votes for the funniest moments in Northern Ireland television.

The special one hour programme, The Magic Box, hosted by Eamonn Holmes, to mark the digital switchover, will be broadcast tomorrow night.

And researchers have been digging deep in the archives at UTV’s Havelock House and the bowels of BBC’s Broadcasting House in Ormeau Avenue looking for the funniest moments in local broadcasting.

The top six funny moments they have come up with are:

1 The Wee Man From Strabane.

2 Give My Head Peace

3 Jackie Fullerton v Giant Haystacks

4 Paddy Kielty Tonight

5 Ivan Little and ‘Phenomenon’ (is that how you spell it Ivan?)

6 James Young Special.

The Belfast Daily is going to vote for Jackie Fullertion when he worked at UTV in the 1970s.

Jackie Fullerton floored by Giant Haystacks

This is the clip where man mountain wrestler Giant Haystacks lifted ‘Our Jackie’ above his head and threw down dropped him on his back on the studio floor.

Poor Jackie felt the pain shooting up his back. As he lay writhing on the floor, Ballymena golden boy Jack can be heard saying: “Give me football any day.”

Today, host Eamonn Holmes was tweeting today to remind his followers not to forget to cast their votes.

Votes close at 11.05 pm on Tuesday, October 22.
