DETECTIVES have charged a 46 year old man with number of offences including attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 8th August.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The charges relate to an incident at Ainsworth Drive in north Belfast on Thursday, August 6, in which a man was reported to have seriously assaulted a pregnant woman.

The woman is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
