POLICE have arrested two people and recovered a quantity of drugs and a suspected firearm following searches in Belfast yesterday, Saturday, May 23.
Shortly after 4 pm, police observed a male and female acting suspiciously in a car on Upper Crescent in south Belfast.
Police stopped the car and, following a search of the vehicle and the occupants, recovered a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs.
The 24 year old female was arrested on suspicion of a number of drugs offences.
She was interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The 36 year old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug and possession of a class A controlled drugs with intent to supply.
During a follow-up search of a house in the Colinvale area of west Belfast police recovered a suspected firearm and a quantity of suspected drugs.
A 37 year old female was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances. She remains in police custody at this time.
The 36 year old male arrested earlier was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances and remains in police custody at this time.
