ELDERLY MAN THREATENED IN HOME BY BURGLAR ARMED WITH VACUUM CLEANER PART

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary of a house in the Quarry Road area of east Belfast this morning, Tuesday, August 13.

It was reported that shortly after 5.30 am this morning the homeowner, a man aged in his 80’s, was asleep upstairs when an unknown male entered his bedroom and threatened him with a piece of a vacuum cleaner.

The male searched through a number of drawers and cupboards in the house before making off.

It is not known if anything was stolen.

The suspect is described as being aged in his late twenties or early thirties,  approximately 5’5” to 5’7” tall, of slim build with a thin face and sharp features.

Detective Sergeant Corrigan is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 187 13/8/19.
