WOMAN LEFT TRAUMATISED AFTER MASKED MEN SMASH HER HOME

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after a gang of masked men smashed up home with hammers.

The aggravated burglary happened at residential premises in the Craignish Crescent area of Dundonald last night, Saturday, August 10.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: “We received a report, at around 9pm, that several masked men had entered the property.

“It’s reported that hammers were used to smash windows and items of furniture.

“A woman was home at the time and, while physically uninjured, has been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

“We have subsequently arrested a man on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit unlawful damage.  He remains in police custody, assisting with enquiries.

“Our investigation is continuing and we are appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 2001 of 10/08/19.”
