POLICE PROBE ‘TERRIFYING’ ASSAULT ON WOMAN IN BEDROOM

DETECTIVES investigating the report of an aggravated burglary are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Sayers said: “Police received a report shortly before 11:40pm on Wednesday, 26th June that earlier that evening, at around 11. 05pm, a male entered a property in the Lough Shore Road area of Derrygonnelly in Co Fermanagh.

“Once inside the property, the male entered a bedroom, threatened and assaulted a woman before leaving on foot.

“The victim sustained minor injuries to her arm and leg.

“Nothing was reported stolen.

“The suspect is described as being approximately 5’6’’ tall, aged between twenties to forties, of a slight build and spoke with what was described as a local accent.

“This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victim in her own home, somewhere she rightly deserves to feel safe.

“This has left the victim extremely traumatised and I am appealing  to anyone who can help us locate the suspect to call detectives in Omagh on 101, quoting reference number 2473 26/06/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
