MAN ARMED WITH SCREWDRIVER HUNTED OVER HOUSE ROBBERY BID

DETECTIVES are investigating the report of an aggravated burglary at a house off the Ormeau Road in south Belfast in the early hours of Saturday, June 29.                                          

Detective Sergeant Sam McCallum said: “A report was received at around 5.45 am that a man had forced entry to the house and threatened a male occupant with a screwdriver after being confronted.

“The intruder then fled the property empty handed.

“He was described as being around 5’9” tall and of medium build.

“He is aged in his 30’s and was wearing a grey baseball cap with a white trim on the peak, a dark grey hoodie with a curved logo and dark trousers.

“He was also carrying a dark rucksack.

“I would ask anyone who saw a male matching this description in the area of Burmah Street or who has any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 509 29/06/19.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
