MAN ARRESTED, HOMES SEARCHED AND £50K SEIZED IN FUEL LAUNDERING PROBE

DETECTIVES from the PSNI Organised Crime Unit have conducted nine searches across the Newry and South Armagh areas today, Monday, May 13.

Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said: “Detectives conducted a number of searches in the South Armagh and Newry areas earlier today, making one arrest and recovering more than £50,000 in cash, mobile phones and documentation.

“Two lorries and fuel were also seized, along with a related mobile fuel laundering site.

“A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences relating to possession and concealing criminal property. He remains in custody at present.

“We are continuing to appeal to the public to report anything suspicious to us.  Get in touch on the non-emergency number 101, or if you think a crime is in progress call 999.

“Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
