DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have launched a murder inquiry over the death of a 53-year-old woman in east Belfast on Sunday night.

Her body was discovered at a house in Whincroft Way in the Braniel estate.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested and has been taken to the PSNI’s PACE custody suite at Musgrave PSNI station for questioning.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.

MIT detectives are appealing for witnesses.
