MEN ARMED WITH HAMMER AND KNIFE ROB SHOP OF CIGGIES AND CHARITY BOX

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery of a shop in Abbots Cross in Newtownabbey last night, Friday, November 9.

It was reported that at around 6.30pm 2 males, one armed with a hammer and one armed with a knife, entered the premises and made off with a quantity of cigarettes and a charity box.  The males are described as wearing dark coloured coats and jogging bottoms and had their faces covered with balaclavas.

The males are believed to have made off along the Doagh Road in the direction of Whiteabbey Hospital in a black coloured Peugeot 308 car.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in a creeper style burglary in Jellicoe Avenue in north Belfast sometime overnight Thursday night, 08 November.

Detective Sergeant Miller is appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery or the whereabouts of the black Peugeot car or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Antrim on 101 quoting reference 1123 09/11/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
