DETECTIVES have arrested a 23 year old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was detained as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident in which a man in his 20s sustained a gun-shot wound to the abdomen in the north Belfast area, yesterday morning.

The suspect has been taken to the PACE custody suite at Musgrave PSNI in Belfast for questioning.

The 24-year-old victim was found in the early hours of Saturday morning in the New Lodge Road area.

He was found by paramedics bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
