‘UNTOUCHABLES’ ARREST THREE MEN AND SEIZE GUN IN TERROR PROBE

‘THE UNTOUCHABLES’ have taken another firearm off the streets of Belfast as part of a terrorism inquiry, police have revealed.

Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force arrested three men and recovered a suspected firearm following the search of a car in north Belfast last night, Wednesday, July  18.

Detective Inspector Lynne Knox said : “The three men, aged 26, 30 and 36, were arrested under the Terrorism Act, after the car they were travelling in was stopped and searched at Clifton Street shortly after 10pm on Wednesday evening.

“All three men were taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning where they remain assisting us with our enquiries.

“The suspected firearm recovered from the vehicle will be forensically examined.”

The PSNI, HM Revenue & Customs and the National Crime Agency have established the PCTF to tackle criminality linked to paramilitary activity.

It was set up as part of the Executive’s action plan on Tackling Paramilitary Activity, Criminality, and Organised Crime.
