THREE men have been charged over an incident involving award-winning BBC NI journalist Kevin Magee as he investigated the behaviour of self-styled ‘paedophile hunters’.
The men, aged 28, 32 and 34, are due in court accused of offences including assault, attempted intimidation, false imprisonment and disorderly behaviour.
The charges relate to an incident on Belfast’s Botanic Avenue on Tuesday, February 6 and other offences on dates between this month and September last year.
They are to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing.
During an incident earlier this month, BBC NI’s investigative reporter Kevin Magee confronted one of the self-styled paedophile hunters George Keenan.
Petty criminal Keenan refused to answer Magee’s questions, and instead started to film the reporter outside his house.
Meanwhile, a fourth man who was also arrested on Monday as part of the PSNI’s investigation into paedophile hunters remains in custody.
He is being questioned on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and false imprisonment during an incident in Belfast on 23 November 2017.
