LATEST NEWS: NI HURRICANE WARNING BROUGHT FORWARD BY THREE HOURS

AN amber weather warning for high winds across Northern Ireland due to the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia has been brought forward by three hours.

The spell of stormy weather was originally forecast for 3 pm but is now due to begin at 12 midday now..

All schools and further education colleges across Northern Ireland.

A red alert remains in place for the Republic of Ireland, meaning there is a danger to life there.

The public is urged to stay safe and not to make any unnecessary travel during the alert.

Keep all pets indoors and secure any outdoor furniture in either garages or sheds.
