COPS HUNT HAMMER ROBBER WHO FLED WITH CASH IN WEST BELFAST HOLD-UP

DETECTIVES from Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch are appealing for information following a report of a robbery at a commercial premises in the Springfield Road area of Belfast last night.

Detective Constable Sands said: “Police received a report at approximately 7:40pm that a male had entered the premises and threatened staff with what is believed to have been a hammer. 

“The suspect, who wore a dark jacket and a dark hat, demanded money. He subsequently fled with a sum of cash.

“No one was injured in the incident. 

“We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed any suspicious activity, or who knows anything about the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1345 23/09/17.

“Alternatively, information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
