THREE MEN RELEASED OVER DISSIDENT REPUBLICAN TERROR PROBE

DETECTIVES have released three men arrested as part of a probe into two dissident republican paramilitary shootings in north and west Belfast last month.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid said yesterday: “Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch have arrested three men, aged 45, 46 and 54 years under the Terrorism Act.

“The arrests follow searches of properties in North and West Belfast today in relation to two separate paramilitary-style shootings which occurred in the Jamaica Street area of North Belfast on the evening of Sunday 25th June and the Henry Place area of Belfast on Saturday, 22 July.

“The men have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite where they are currently helping police with their enquiries.

“During the searches detectives seized a large quantity of cash, mobile phones and other items.

“Detectives are also searching a further property in North Belfast in connection with these investigations.”

The men have now been released from police custody unconditionally.
