TWO TO FACE COURT OVER SOCIAL MEDIA FRAUD RACKET PROBE

POLICE have smashed a racket in which crooks offered to sell back via social media stolen property to victims of theft.

A 26 year old man a with a number of offences including fraud by false representation and possession of a class B drug.

A 27 year old woman has also been charged with aiding and abetting fraud by misrepresentation.

Both were charged with possession of criminal property.

They are due to appear at Omagh Magistrates’ Court this morning, Saturday, April 29, for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

According to security sources, the charges follow a series of incidents in Northern Ireland where victims of theft were contacted by social media and offered their stolen property back, in return for a fee.
