‘VIABLE’ BOMB FOUND IN SECURITY ALERT

Police crime scene picA suspicious object found in a city centre was a “viable explosive device”, police have said.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the object found in Lisburn’s Market Place on Saturday afternoon.

The device was made safe and removed for examination after a security alert lasting several hours.

The PSNI said: “Police would like to thank members of public for their patience and cooperation during this lengthy operation.
