GARDAI investigating the murder of British spy Denis Donaldson have arrested two men, including a pensioner, in Donegal this evening.
Ex-IRA man Donaldson was shot dead at a cottage at Cloghercor, Doochary, in April 2006.
Republicans were blamed for his killing.
A Garda spokesman told Belfast Daily: “Detectives have arrested two men in connection with this investigation.
“Both men were arrested in the Donegal area today and are currently being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939.
“GardaĆ are appealing to any persons who may have information in relation to this investigation to contact them at the Incident Room at Letterkenny Garda Station at 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
“GardaĆ would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have assisted and co-operated with the investigation to date.”
The arrested men are in their 40s and 70s.
