PSNI ON TRAIL OF STONE-THROWING YOUTHS WHO ATTACKED NORTH BELFAST BUS

Metro-BusPOLICE are hunting youths after they stoned a bus in north Belfast.

Now officers have issued a warning about the dangers of attacking buses with missiles.

The attack happened on the Ligoniel Road just after 7.30 pm last night, Wednesday, November 11.

During the first attack, no damage was caused.

But in a second incident, more stones were thrown a short time later and a window of the bus was smashed.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can identify the youths involved to contact them.

In a warning to those behind the attacks, PSNI Inspector Roy Watton has these words for them:

“Stop this senseless and dangerous criminal behaviour.

“You are risking the safety of everyone aboard these buses when you target them like this.

“A missile striking a moving vehicle can, as we have seen, cause a window to smash and potentially cause injury to those on board.

“If the driver were to lose control of the vehicle as a result of your actions, the consequences could be much graver.

“You might think that this is just fooling around, but the outcome could be serious injury for another person and a criminal record for you.”
