POLICE have closed a stretch of road in west Belfast as part of a security operation.

It follows the discovery of a suspicious car which is being examined by Army Technical Officers.

The Springfield Road has been closed between Lanark Way and West Circular Road.

As a result, it is causing delays in the Upper Shankill Road.
