BREAKING NEWS….MAN CHARGED OVER PARAMILITARY SHOOTINGS

Laganside Court houseDETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have charged a 40 year man arrested in Belfast this week with paramilitary shootings.

He was detained on Tuesday, June 30, under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

A house was searched in the New Lodge area as part of the investigation to paramilitary shootings stretching back over the past five years.

He was taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.

This evening, Detective Inspector Stuart Griffin of the TIU said: “He has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence relating to a shooting incident in 2010.

“He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday 3 July.”

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
