ELDERLY WOMAN VICTIM OF NORTH BELFAST DISTRACTION BURGLARY

Police car collectDETECTIVES are appealing for information following the report of a distraction burglary in north Belfast.

It happened at a house in Leggagh Court yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, June 30.

Police say it was reported that three men tricked their way into the house of the elderly female occupant, just before 1pm, by claiming to be from the Water Board.

Two of the men searched the house whilst one stayed with the woman until they were disturbed by the arrival of a home help.

The men then left the house on foot, in the direction of Bilston Road and at this time it is unclear if anything is missing from the house.

The woman was not harmed during this incident but was left badly shaken.

One of the men was described as being around 40 years old with dark coloured hair and a beard and was wearing a yellow hi-vis jacket.

The two other men were described as being quite tall with dark hair and both aged in their 30’s.

Detective Sergeant, Dolores Black has appealed for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone with any information to contact detectives in Musgrave on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
