MAN CHARGED OVER HOTEL STABBING

Laganside Court houseA 29 year old man has been charged over a stabbing incident at a hotel in Glengormley.

He has been charged with offences including attempted wounding.

The suspect is to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The attack happened outside the Chimney Corner Hotel.

Detective Sergeant John McKendry said: “Police were called to the scene of a stabbing incident at the hotel at around 3.20am on Sunday morning.

“Upon arrival a man in his 30’s was being treated by ambulance staff for stab wounds and a man in his 20’s was subsequently detained by officers.

“The injured man is currently in hospital being treated for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The suspect remains in custody helping with enquiries.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Newtownabbey on 101.

“Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
