MAN FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AFTER NORTH BELFAST ASSAULT

Police scene armed copA MAN is critically il in hospital following a brutal attack in north Belfast.

As a result Brae Hill Park is closed following the incident in the early hours of Sunday 29th March.

Detective Sergeant Kenneth Leckey said, “Detectives are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident which has left a 50 year old man critically ill in hospital.

“Police received a report of an altercation in the street at around 2am, and when officers arrived at the scene discovered a man with head and leg injuries.

“First aid was administered by officers until the arrival of an ambulance which took the casualty to a nearby hospital. A man in his 40’s was arrested at the scene and a car has been taken away for forensic examination.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances that has led to this very serious incident and I would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact CID at Musgrave on 101. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. “
