EXTRA TIME TO QUIZ MAN OVER PAULA CARMICHAEL MURDER

Police sceneA MAN arrested yesterday for questioning about the “drunken row” murder of Paula Carmichael is to held in custody over night for further questioning.

On Thursday, detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team were granted extra time to question the 37-year-old.

He can now be detained until Friday morning before he is either charged or released.

His 59-year-old father was released unconditionally over the murder earlier.

Paula Carmichael was found dead yesterday. It is believe she had been drinking with the two suspects in Antrim before she was murdered in what is being described as a result of a “drunken row”.

The 61-year-old was last seen near her home in Hillside, Antrim, on Monday night.

A woman’s body was recovered from the shore of Lough Neagh at Lough Road on Wednesday.

Police now say it has been formally identified as that of Pauline Carmichael.

Police had been conducting extensive searches for the victim after nformation provided to them led them to believe that Ms Carmichael had been murdered.

When last seen, Ms Carmichael was wearing pink pyjamas and was described as as being 5ft 4ins tall with blonde hair.
