A car thief suspect in custody after cops stopped him from going on a crime spree.

Police say that in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, January 6, a male was arrested in the Andersonstown Road area of west Belfast.

He was arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 for possession of class A and class B drugs.

The suspect was also detained for possession of an offensive weapon and going equipped for theft.

He is currently in Musgrave Police Station being questioned.
