POLICE have launched an investigation after a 34-year-old man was left critically injured following a road traffic accident in the early hours of this morning.

He was hit by a car on the Glenavy Road close to the railway halt in Moira, Co Down around 2.40 am this morning.

Police said his injuries are believed to be “extremely serious”.

It is understood he remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The Glenavy Road is closed.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them.
