POLICE in south Down are appealing for information following a petrol bomb attack at Warrenpoint Police Station in the early hours this morning, Sunday 23rd November.

Inspector Colin Patterson said: “ Officers from Warrenpoint station had been out on regular patrol duties and returned to the station at around 3.30 am to find that a petrol bomb had been thrown over the perimeter wall into the yard of the station.

“The petrol bomb had smashed but failed to ignite causing minor damage to a vehicle parked in the yard.”

Inspector Patterson added; “We will be viewing footage from the station security cameras but I would also like to appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the police station or who has any information to contact officers in Warrenpoint on 101.

“Information can also be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
