POLICE £15K DRUG HAUL IN SHANKILL AREA

PSNIPOLICE have seized cannabis plants with an estimated value believed to be in excess of £15,000.

Shankill Neighbourhood Team Sergeant Bethel said: “A search was carried out at a property in Hopewell Avenue in Belfast on Tuesday 18th November.

“A cannabis factory was discovered and since been dismantled. Items including cannabis plants were seized and a man in his 20s was arrested and questioned in connection with the discovery.

“Local police will continue to work to identify those involved in the cultivation of cannabis or any other illegal drugs activity and to halt their activities for good. Drugs destroy lives and we are delighted to have shut this factory down and to have prevented the drugs produced here from being sold in the community.

“I would encourage anyone with any information that could help us identify and arrest those involved in the drugs trade locally to get in touch with police via the non-emergency number 101.”
