DETECTIVES have launched a murder bid investigation after a man was shot and left for dead in west Belfast.

The 28-year-old victim was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital following the incident in Clonfadden Crescent off the Falls Road on Friday afternoon.

He is being treated in the intensive care unit for injuries to his stomach and thigh.

His condition is described as critical.

Detectives are waiting to interview him to try and find clues to his attackers.

The scene has been sealed off and crime scene investigators are examining the area where the shooting took place.
