Detectives at Woodbourne CID appeal over aggravated burglary

DETECTIVES in west Belfast are appealing for information following a report of an aggravated burglary.

The vicious attack happened at residential premises in the Old Suffolk Road area last night, Sunday 28 September.

Police say that shortly before 9.20 pm, it was reported that a male resident was assaulted in his hallway by four masked men armed with hammers and crowbars after answering a knock at his door.

The 33 year old man sustained injuries to his head and body as a result of the attack however these are not believed to be life threatening.

Appealing for information Detective Inspector Jenna Fitzpatrick said, “I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact us at Woodbourne Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
