COPS PROBE DISTRACTION BURGLARY IN NORTH BELFAST

PSNI logoDETECTIVES in north Belfast are appealing for information following the report of a distraction burglary in the Silverstream Road area of Belfast on the evening of Tuesday, 16th September.

It is reported that at approximately 8pm, an unknown female entered the home of a 69 year old man, claiming that she was from a local charity.

The man became suspicious and asked the woman to leave which she did. Police checked with the charity and found that there is no record of the woman having employed there.

Speaking of the incident, Detective Constable Anita Cummings, CID Tennent Street, said: “I would appeal to anyone witnessed this incident or who saw this woman in the area at the time of the incident to contact Detectives at Tennent Street on the 101 non-emergency number.

“The woman is described as being aged between 30-40, with a plump face and stocky build, 5ft 6” in height, with short dark wavy hair; she was wearing a white jacket, black trousers and cardigan.”
