DETECTIVES have arrested two men, aged 30 and 31, following an armed robbery.

It happened in the Cloughfern Corner area of Newtownabbey on Monday night.

Detective Sergeant Philip McCullagh of Newtownabbey CID said: “At approximately 11.45pm it was reported that two men carrying knives entered a fast food outlet and threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash from the cash register.

“Police stopped a car a short time later in the King’s Road area and arrested the men. They remain in custody assisting police with their inquiries.”
