POLICE in south Belfast are appealing for information following an allegation of a sexual assault in the Boucher Road area.

Constable Hakin said: “Between 8:00 pm and 8.30pm on Saturday, Augu a female was approached by a male who attempted to kiss her on the lips.

“The male then grabbed the victim by her upper body before attempting to remove her shorts.

“An unknown female who was close by intervened to help the victim and the male walked off.

“The male is described as being white, in his mid to late 30s, approximately 5ft 8” tall, of small/slim build with short black greying hair and a combed down fringe.

“He had one of his ears pierced and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black top with buttons on the front and light coloured jeans.

“We would appeal to the female who intervened or indeed anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us at Musgrave police station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, information can also be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by telephoning 0800 555 111.”
