POLICE are jubilant after a crackdown on known offenders in the Belfast area over the past week.

It follows the targeting of “priority offenders” by the PSNI’s Belast Reducing Offending Unit.

Known criminals who were disrupted included:

* A 17 year old youth was arrested and charged with Theft, Handling Stolen Goods and Disorderly Behaviour. Charged to court.

* A 25 year old woman was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Theft and Possession of a Class C Drug. Charged to the next available court and remanded in custody.

* A 16 year old youth was arrested and charged with the Theft of a bicycle. He is to appear at Belfast Youth Court later in August.

* A 16 year old youth was arrested and charged with robbery. Charged to court.

* A 14 year old youth was arrested and charged with Theft and Vehicle Interference. Charged to the next available court and remanded in custody.

* A 24 year old man was arrested and charged with Possession of a Class B Drug and Obstructing Police. Charged to the next available court and remanded in custody.

* A 23 year old man was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Class B Drug. Charged to the next available court and remanded in custody.

A 17yr old youth was arrested and charged with Disorderly Behaviour. To appear at Belfast Youth Court later in August.

A 17yr old youth was arrested for Breach of Bail. Brought before the next available court and remanded in custody.

A 23 year old male was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment for Taking and Driving Away and other motoring offences.
