DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch investigating ongoing dissident republican activity have been granted an extension by a court to question four men.

The men are aged 37, 58 and two others are aged 47.

They are being detained at the sparsely furnished serious crime suite in Antrim.

A 31 year old man and a 32 year old woman have been released unconditionally.

All six were arrested on Tuesday following searches in the west Belfast and Dunmurry areas, in relation to punishment style attacks.

The arrests were made following a long-running intelligence gathering operation involving Serious Crime Branch and its C3 Intelligence Department.

Most of the attacks were carried out by a group calling itself Oglaigh na hEireann.
